Quick Start Guide
Here’s a step-by-step guide on what needs to be done before you can send your first email with Coresender.
In this article
Anyone who wants to use Coresender for sending emails, whether using our SMTP or API, must create a free account. Signing up with Coresender and confirming your email address is a no-brainer. It’s no different from what you’d expect in case of a regular ecommerce or SaaS. Here’s how to go about it.
Step 1 – Create a free account
- Click Get started for free
- Fill in the required fields, accept the Terms of Service and click Create account
- At this point you'll be taken through our onboarding
- To complete the registration, go to your inbox, open the welcome email from Coresender and click Confirm your email
- When you click the Confirm your email button, you'll be taken to the next step - Add a sending account
Step 2 – Add your first sending account
You’ll need at least one sending account to send emails with us. Adding additional sending accounts let you segment the emails you send into different pools.
If you intend to send both transactional emails and marketing emails, create at least two separate sending accounts, one for each type.
Obviously, feel free to add as many accounts as you want. This is useful if you want to use different apps, track different projects more easily, split your accounting etc.
Creating you first sending account is easy. Just follow a few simple steps.
- Click the Start button
- Insert the name of the account. You can choose any name you wish.
- Choose the type of emails you’re planning to send with this sending account. You have a choice between transactional emails and marketing emails. This is an important step as we have a strict policy that prohibits the use of transactional sending accounts to send marketing emails. Please see the article on Transactional vs. Marketing emails if you’re not sure what the difference is.
- Click the Create sending account button.
This is it. Your first sending account has been created.
Step 3 – Add your first sending domain
To send emails from Coresender, you need a sending domain that authenticates your emails. The sending domain is the one that shows the “from” address e.g. hello@yourdomain.com. First, though, you need to add the yourdomain.com as a sending domain.
This domain must be under your control because we’ll ask you to configure and verify it by adding a few records in the DNS zone.
Adding a domain, however, is just as easy as adding a sending account.
- Click the Start button
- Type in the name of the domain.
- Click Add domain.
Great! You’ve added your first sending domain to Coresender.
Step 4 – Configure and verify the sending domain
Now it’s time to give Coresender the right to use your domain to send emails on your behalf. You must have the right to use the domain and have access to the domain’s DNS zone.
- Click the Start button
- You'll be taken to a list of records that must be added to your DNS zone
- Configure the domain by adding CNAME records to your DNS zone. Different DNS providers will offer slightly different configurations. You can access step-by-step instructions on how to configure and verify domains for a few popular DNS providers in our DNS guides.
- When all three records have been added, click the Verify domain button. Please bear in mind that you might need to wait up to 24h before the DNS records get propagated.
Congratulations. You’re all set up!
Once your domain is verified, you can integrate Coresender with your application using either SMTP or API and you’ll be ready to start sending emails and testing Coresender.
